I've never actually met Everclear.. I have no such luck (plus, would I have actually been able to control myself in handsome Arthur's presense?) *wink* anywho, I wrote a short story about my first concert experience that I'd like to share with other fans...

My First Concert Experience

Nashville Riverstages. The biggest concert event in Tennessee. It's a three-day festival with some of the hottest acts of the time. Some of the artists included were Issac Hayes (woo!), 98º (run for your lives!) and Ben Harper (melt!). Everclear would be playing on the final night, Sunday, and I could hardly wait. My wonderful boyfriend generously bought my ticket knowing how dearly I love Everclear. His favorite band, 2 Skinnee J's, played on the first night (Friday) and totally kicked ass. I HIGHLY suggest anyone to see them live- it's a truly mind blowing experience. We saw several bands over the next two days, but I was saving my total excitement for Everclear.

Hole performed on Saturday night, and I broke into tears. Courtney Love is almost a personal hero- for everything she's gone through. I have such respect for her and I do not believe, under any circumstances, that she murdered her husband. Seeing her up there- strong, happy, with her sense of humor intact; I admired her more than ever.

But I digress.

Everclear performed on the final night, and I wanted good seats. This was an outdoor show, and the stage was set before huge step-like platforms. My boyfriend and I sat there all day, to be able to keep our view. By the time Everclear were going to perform the area was packed, and I had to stand behind my boyfriend. I kept a firm grip on his shoulders as balance for which I could jump a little higher. *sly smile*

There was trouble, however. Some of the assholes in the "pit" were throwing things on stage and flashing those G-D laser lights at the band. I honestly believe that people do that because they KNOW that Art WILL stop the band and yell at the crowd. Teehee..

"Hey.. wait.. stop the song! Stop the song!!!"

*the band stops playing*

Art gave his speech about boys with too much testosterone "because they can't get laid(!)"

"Let me tell you something! The next asshole who throws something up here, I'm gonna jump down there and kick your ass!"

*huge cheer*

"I'll do better than that... The net asshole who throws something up here, I'm gonna jump down there and fuck your girlfriend!!!"

*really huge cheer*

"Better than that, We'll ALL fuck your girlfriend!!!!"

*deafening cheer*

Art told us about picking significant others "that really piss off your parents..."

After I'd calmed down and the band ripped into "Heartspark Dollarsign", I stood behind John, mouthing the words and swaying to the music. Art gave a little speech before "I will buy you a new life". I can't remember the exact words- "I wrote this song for the feeling- when you love someone so much, that you'd pay any price or give everything you have to make them happy..."

As he spoke, John took my hands from his shoulders and wrapped my arms around his neck. He held me so close as Art crooned "Will you please let me stay the night? No one will ever know....."

Close to the end of the show, my boyfriend and I started to maneuver out of the crowd. We found an area not as packed with people and listened to "Father of Mine". A song that holds a particular place for me, that I'm not too sure I'm willing to share with everyone who may read this.

Everyone knows the final explosion of any Everclear show- "Local God". The bringing of audience members to the stage to mosh and look silly while the band plays their greatest song. There's something so exciting, almost romantic, about seeing the overextatic youths jumping, screaming, and dancing...being moved by the music. It's pure adrenaline. I’m so thankful to My wonderful John AND Everclear for giving me the most amazing, memorable night of my life.

*********** Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it? *smiles*
